Third Year Studio 1 (ARCH373) - 2023
This studio project was a research-based project called "Post-Anthropocene Machines + Other Urban Episodes".
Students received characters pulled from a hat based on Richard Scarry's 21st Century Busy Town Jobs. They would use these characters to create their final design on the site which was centered around North Broadway, a road in North Knoxville, TN.
My character was The Mansplainer.

A completely humanitarian design centered around challenging and enlightening whoever enters to see a new way of life.
Book: The MANual
A documented collection of research, definitions, and designs on the assigned conceptual theme of "mansplaining".
SPOILER: The result is an interactive space that allows individuals to undergo a character metamorphosis upon exploring and interacting with the designed space.

Creating "mechanical armatures" to connect and transform land.
Four sites: Clingmans Dome, The Sinks, Cades Cove, and Wears Valley, TN

"The Instrument of Light"
How can you direct light into a building on a small plot sandwiched between two taller buildings?
The program for the building was an urban spa located off of Gay St. in Downtown Knoxville, TN.

A space based on a scene in Blade Runner 2049 that connects to other student designs.
Each final design would piece together to create a long multistory complex of designs of different scenes within the movie.
